I've submitted the China photo gallery at
http://www.molon.de/galleries/China/
three times over the past two years to DMOZ to this category:
Top: Regional: Asia: China: Maps and Views: Photos
at
http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/C...d_Views/Photos/

The category matches, and with over 1700 photos mine probably is the
largest and most comprehensive China photo gallery in the web. So it's a
bit hard to understand why it does not get listed.

I even emailed the editor of the category and got no reply.

In the past you could ask about the status of your submission in the
DMOZ forum at http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/
But now not anymore. They have closed the forum section. Now, if
somebody dares to ask about his submission he/she gets an unfriendly
reply. Sigh...

Sadly, it seems that nowadays, DMOZ is run by a bunch of monkeys with
haircuts

Not being listed has nothing to do with your site.

For years DMOZ has been just a big piece of crap stinking up the internet,
run by incompetant rubes and monitored by mostly lazy XXX editors.

Your site (molon.de) is listed 12 times on DMOZ:
http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=molon.de

That's more than most people can say.

That is highly irrelevant and completely misses the point.

The China photo gallery, with over 1700 photos, is not listed in the
Regional: Asia: China: Maps and Views: Photos category.

You are building a directory of the web, and you list relevant sites for
each category. Somebody who is searching for photos of China will look
for them in the Regional: Asia: China: Maps and Views: Photos category
and will not find the China photo gallery. That is the point.

On the other hand starting from the generic travel photo galleries
category to find photos of China would be too time consuming.

Or should I reserve a multitude of domain names and place my photo
galleries each in a different domain? Would you then check if each site
belonged to the same person, because each individual person is not
allowed to have too many entries in DMOZ?

No it is very relevant as DMOZ clearly prohibits people from
suggesting deeplinks and sites related to already listed sites.

"Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the
exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites."

A site cabn be listed more than once and deeplinks vcan be listed.
But only because an editor see a benefit for DMOZ and its users to do
so. People are not allowed to suggest a site to several categories or
to suggest deeplinks.

Please stop suggesting deeplinks of your site as this might result in
a ban and in extreme cases removal of all sites you are related with.

Dear DMOZ editor,

this site has 10000 deeplinks listed in DMOZ:
http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=topix.net

Compared to that my 13 links are peanuts.

The guidelines of DMOZ allow deeplinks:
http://dmoz.org/newsletter/2001May/deeplink.html

In any case, the China photo gallery is now listed in DMOZ :-)

It doesn't get listed because DMOZ died about seven years ago.

You are making the mistake, Alfred, of applying logic to DMOZ.
