I signed up with this place upon a friend's recommendation after Moose went
belly-up, and they've been good for my modest needs. I've never seen
them mentioned here. No complaints so far.

Hey,
I've been really happy with www.heartinternet.co.uk. Been hosting with them
for a couple of years, NO downtime that I can see.

| My suggestion is that you consider actual performance data in your
quest for a new web hosting company. Visit http://uptime.netcraft.com/
perf/reports/Hosters. The page gives you near-real-time (15 minutes)
performance information for about 50 top web hosting companies. Since
these companies are allowing public posting of their performance data
it seems reasonable to say that they will do everything in their power
to avoid outages and to keep top notch performance going. I wish this
type of information was available for all web hosting providers.
>From the companies listed you should have no trouble finding several
that support your specific technical requirements. I hope this helps!

I left Page-Zone and went to a VPS at Servint. It's more expensive than
the others mentioned here, but I have had ZERO downtime in the past two
months.
I now have the same attitude I heard often in this forum - when it comes
to hosting, you get what you pay for.

Not to start a new thread, but one of my clients had a very bad
experience with ImHosted. I got involved and found them to be less than
helpful in fixing THEIR problem in regards to a script I had written
that suddenly stopped working on their servers (it worked on mine).
They spent 2 days insisting it was my fault until I finally got a
technician to look further into the problem. It took another 5 days to
get it resolved.
Just a "heads up".

Thanks! :-)
Although I bet somebody, somewhere, has had a bad experience with every
hosting outfit in existence, at some time. ;-)

Servint was my second choice, after PowerVPS. I'm happy with PowerVPS at
the moment, but if things go sour, Servint will be my next move.

I made the same move, and am very happy about it. But a VPS is probably
more than the OP needs, and it will cost him about 10 times what he was
paying at Page-Zone.

I wish I could say the same. I will say that ServInt's tech support has
been excellent.

Agreed. I wish I made the move sooner.

Look at Hostgator.com. I recently posted a gripe about one aspect of their
operations (a somewhat slow introduction to existing customers of a big
boost in space and bandwidth, at no increase in cost.) But I've had terrific
service from their support staff, and essentially zero downtime for the past
several months. Since new customers immediately get the benefit of the
larger capacity, you might want to include Hostgator in your shopping.

Thanks. I looked at them last night.

I am sure you will get good advice from the group, but if not, please
visit http://www.hostsearch.com - this is the biggest pool of
information about web hosts currently available and what is good about
it is that people can leave comments so you get a feel for the type of
service a host provides. There are a number of other web hosting
directories on the Internet as well as HostSearch.

I've been with TotalChoiceHosting (http://www.totalchoicehosting/) for
a few years, and haven't had many problems. Their cPanel seems to go
down every once in a while, but the actual webpage doesn't. I once
had a problem with eMail which was corrected within 1/2 hour thanks to
their "live" online chat support.
For their online mail they have both Horde and SquirrelMail. SM
hasn't worked in a few weeks but I've been too lazy to contact them
and see if it is something on my end or their end.
Given the price to bandwidth/storage/accounts ratio, they are really
good IMO.
