No, it's crap. Anyone who tries to sell you information that you can
get for free elsewhere is at least a charlatan, and may well may be
trying to deliberately defraud you by feeding you lies.

I'm not so sure about that, there's also questions of presentation,
delivery media, timeliness and crdibility.
Examples? nah they'd all lack some element of usefulness, besides we can
get them for free elsewhere :)

Not necessarily true. Example 1: All the information contained in every
O'Reilly book can be found for free on the Net. ;-)

That is true. Maybe a better way of putting it would be to say that
any book which needs to be advertised by spam is crap.
