Say no to complex navigation??

| Hi,
I have come across a few articles on the web that suggest the current
trend of placing styled lists / breadcrumbs / javascript menus /
pulldown / light up navigation on every page of a site is not
necessarily a good thing and frequently is not used by visitors to a
site.
I myself have seen many sites where the dominating impression of the
site is in fact provided by a beautiful styled nav list :-). The
navigation list almost becomes the reason for the site, not a tool to
aid movement through the site.
At sometime I remember Jukka Korpela suggesting that a simple link
back to a 'Home' page is all that is really required. For example
(From Jukka's site) :

I would be interested in any thoughts from this NG.
All the best,
Andrew

Good article, especially pertinent as I get ready to reorganize my
site.

Statistics means never having to say you're certain.
(Note: my Hotmail address is seldom checked)

I'm glad you've found it useful. I wrote that article some time ago and
haven't really touched it since.
Often, because of laziness or because of requests from others, I find it
necessary to violate one of my own top ten tips, but in principle as a
*user* of the web rather than an author, I believe they're sensible.
