Author Should I sue my wife?
Ben

2006-09-02, 6:47 pm

This seems to be a great legal forum for idiots like me to come to for advice.
The other day, my wife tripped over a wire and unplugged my PC. I lost several
minutes of work and am now paranoid and delusional. All I can think about is
suing her for compensation and lack of consortium.

What do you guys think?

Several minutes? Pshaw.

I once lost about 2 hours worth of work when my power went out. I was
stupid and didn't save anything while I was working and lost it all.

Should I sue BGE?

No, you should sue yourself because you've just admitted fault by
saying you were stupid. Of course, you'll have to pay 2 attorneys, so
be careful to ask for attorney fees from yourself. ;-P

Do what any self-respecting married man would do. Ask her.

All idiots seem to find their way here eventually.

I see. Were these two events connected? Which was cause, and which was
effect? Has the marriage been consumated?

> I lost several
> minutes of work

Does your wife have a "call you at work" permit? Granting these is a
mistake. Wives should be kept well clear of the work-place and frankly I
don't see how they have time to mess with telephones (and daytime TV) when
they clearly have insufficient resources to provide a welcoming hearty
meal for the returning worker. Perhaps you can have her terminated on
some breech of contract technicality - you /do/ have a contract? Still
got your wedding photos? Take a look, is she the same twinkle eyed beauty
she was back then? maybe there's a get-out for you due to unreasonable
deterioration. Lastly, has you love life altered for the worse in any
material way? there is always the 'fit for the purpose intended' clause.

> and am now paranoid and delusional. All I can think about is

Is that the best you can come up with? Interfering with the proces of
'work' is a criminal offence of the highest magnitude. She'll be lucky to
escape death-row.

I think it was your fault. What the hell are you doing with cables draped
across the floor where people are walking?

Consider yourself lucky that wifey didn't fall and break her neck - she'd be
entitled to sue *you*!!!

Geesh! I hope Owen is kidding and not some 'tard that failed to see the humor

As a former health and safety rep for BECTU, I am concerned that you
have trailing cables lying around without proper warning signs. This
is a clear infringement of H&S laws. Your wife should immediately
contact an appropriate injury lawyer (before attending a medical
practioner) to ascertain which injuries that she sustained will
benefit her the most from suing you. She can then of course afterwards
attend a medical practioner to receive certificates that she did
indeed suffer the injuries described.

Sorry, I never saw the post by the fool (prick) in question and therefore
totally missed the irony here.

As a wife myself, I think you'd better apologize for leaving that cable
where it could be tripped on, before she sues you... or worse, makes dinner!

Beer? While using the computer? What's that chauvinist doing, watching Looney
Toons? Or watching naked hippos? That would at least explain what he means
by "several minutes of work".

Hmmm I think I 've got my Mrs cornered on this one. On the other hand, she
might reply in kind.

And I dont fancy a legal battle to determine who is falling apart the
