Don't think so - I've got that one installed, and I've never
experienced the above mentioned problem.

I think it's time for everyone to list their extensions, and see which
you have in common :-)

Well it does it, but it's hardly on the scale of "trouble".

IMHE, it happens whenever I restart FF after it has crashed or frozen
so that I killed it manually.

I also have a weird problem where on my aged laptop with 256MB limited
memory, FF is a real memory hog that grabs 200+MB of memory and doesn't
release it. On the desktop with 2GB it sits quite happily around 100MB
and never grows far beyond this. Same FF versions.

In my Opera installation, I have:

Toby's fantastic Web Developer menu.

Tarquin's excellent HTML Entity Reference as a panel.

The very convenient GTranslation widget.

I find that of the most useful Firefox extensions, 95% are provided by
Opera natively, or are covered by one of the above.

The main problem I had with Opera (before changing to Firefox) was that
it looked like a monkey's backside.

Given this is a discussion about what extension is causing a particular
Firefox glitch, what Opera have to do with it? :P

That's odd. I never have it happen on start up. Or, to be more
precise, if I had the "disappear to 1 pixel" happen and needed to
maximize, then the next time I start up it's at a very small size that
still shows scroll bars and enough acreage for me to manage to resize
it (certainly an improvement over the prior situation.)

IIRC, their FAQ has a section on the memory hog issue. I don't
remember all the suggestions, but there were a few.

Assuming Mr Tasso is also noticing the same phenomenon (he didn't say), the
only common extension is the Web Developer one.

This assumes were are all talking about the same events; otherwise there
could be several problems being manifested...

Here's a site that compares the top 150 popular Firefox extensions and
Opera. <http://my.opera.com/Rijk/homes/blog/extensions.html>. He also
shows the way to replicating many of them by tweaking Opera's User
Preferences. Opera does rule!

You have to love Rijk: "This list only works one way - it doesn't show the
unique features in Opera that are not available in Firefox." :-)

I've never had the tiny window problem, been using Firefox since it was
Firebird 0.8. I use:

Adblock .5
FoxyTunes 1.3.8, with the [R]evolution-like skin .9
IE View 1.2.7
Web Developer 1.0.2
StumbleUpon 2.83
NoScript 1.1.4.1

It's possible too that it's a theme causing the problem - I've had some
bad themes do horrid things to Thunderbird.

My current theme is Azerty III 2.0 I've used Brushed, but had some sort
of problem which I can't quite remember right now.

list:

DownThemAll
DOM Inspector

IE Tab
Advanced Dork
NoScript
Fasterfox
Google Toolbar for Firefox
SearchStatus
