I need to setup browser based FTP for a client.

I see that servers can handle this in widely different ways, and so do
browsers.

Can you pass the password along with the URL?

ftp://some_user@some_domain.com + password here somehow

On the server I'm using, if I just log in like this:

ftp://some_user@some_domain.com

In IE6 (windows), I'll get a prompt for both username and password. That
will work.

In NS7, I'll get a prompt for just the password. This will fail with a 530.

On a side note, I have this on Dot 5 Hosting. I see (after the
signup) that Dot 5 doesn't have it's act together. I had looked at Blue
Hosting when they we were having outages (not encouraging). Is there
somewhere else that has cheap large scale storeage (for CAD lighting
files) and uses a control panel that allows ftp directories (ie, not
root). Plesk, oddly, does not. vDeck does and I suspect that CP will,
but don't know.
