alt.html.critique is the proper group. Beware a lot of those people there
are by no means experts. They just go to W3C and see if it validates. Then
there are the ones who surf without pic, java, flash, or any plugins. They
will tell you how bad it looks. So just take it with a grain of salt.
usatoday has 74 errors and PR9. You also need to let people know there is
adult material/links on your site. I'd say your off to a good start and keep
working on it.

No, they do a lot more than that. However, since you mentioned it... <g>

Like the googlebot. Or blind people. Not important?

No, his site looks fairly good, for a page of links, except the text
size is too small. Unfortunately, the site appears to be only one page,
and from a template. All the links are to other sites.
Ted's site/page weighs in at 126675 bytes - quite a bit for an opening
page (about the same as your cjsealing site, at 128356 bytes).
Test here: http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/
The template - customizable?

USA Today has thousands of pages, though.

You heartless murdering bastard!
Isn't it enough that the Canadians are clubbing the poor seals?
Just when they've crawled from the ice floes into the supposed safety
of the Mid West, you tar and feather them! Think of the pups!

Any competent biologist will tell you that asphalt seals are born without
fur, so those pups actually need coats.

And how would you know if they were experts or not? I think you will
find that the majority of contributers to these groups work in the web
design feald.
Knowing how your site works with items such as images disabled is
handie to know, as not all browsing environments are the same, think
Screan Readers and the GoogleBot.

By the way, blue on blue does not provide good contrast for people
reading your links
