small cookies issue.

| I have a page with some adult content. I had it set up to check if
there was a cookie, if there was a cookie it did nothing, if there was
no cookie it would redirect to a page that was a disclaimer/entry type
page, which explained there was adult content, gave some information,
links to cyber nanny stuff, etc. and a link you clicked accepting
temrs/aup/etc to enter the site (which set the cookie)
Now the problem is, with cookies disabled it would just continuosly
redirect you to the disclaimer page. and i ran a script that analyzes
your keywords and noticed it was also redirected to the disclaimer
page. this leads me to beleive search engines will also be redirected
there.
Now, this entry/disclaimer thing really means nothing, you could be 3
years old and click OK! I'm 21! and get into the site, obviously
something like credit card verification or something would be better
but I dont want to get into all that for no reason.
So my question is, would I be better off just forgetting the whole
redirect/cookie path and just put a link on the site somewhere that
says "you must be 18 to view this blah blah" and link to my AUP/Terms
of Use/etc?

Just add a line which says "You must have cookies enabled to visit this
site".

| I do not believe that most search engines would have a problem as they
tend to grab each page from your website and then parse them, ignoring
any javascript etc code which would cause the re-direct.
Placing a notice that you must have cookies enabled (as suggested) is
about your only solution for human visitors.
However, what you must do is ensure that your website is registered as
an adult site with parental controls software such as SurfControl to
try and protect the younger internet users. There are also specific
meta tags (IIRC) for adult websites which will help identify your
images etc as adult only.
