I have worked really hard adding as much content to my website as I can
and much more is coming

new stuff

- more content
- new and improved footer
- fixed grammatical errors
- fixed some glitches (like double spaces and stuff like that small
things) on all my pages
- and some other fixes and added even more content

PLEASE TELL ME ANY OPINIONS OR COMMENTS YOU HAVE ABOUT MY WEBSITE

http://masterjuan0101.googlepages.com

Thanks in advanced

It would be nicer if you looked happy and friendly.

You still look like you are going to beat me up! I would drop the
Google search box, or move it to a lower position, it's all I saw when I
first looked. You might think that's good and lots of people will use
it, making you rich, but that won't happen. If people want Google, they
will go to Google. They have come to your site for another reason.
Serve them what they want.

I thought the site was pretty good first time.

Your site looks really good to me. I actually like your picture. It
is fitting for the content of the site.

Looks a fairly good site to me; the 6 hats are interesting, isn't this
based on Edward De Bono's lateral thinking ideas?

I quite like the look of the site.

I like the fact that you have specified all of the font sizes in em's.
This means I can resize the site to fit my poor vision.

I'd move the bottom options (Contact Me | About Me | Daily Cartoon |
Cast Your Vote) up to the top; perhaps at the bottom of, or immediately
below, the google search box.

I agree with the other person, that the google search box is too
prominent. Personally, I'd leave it there, but reduce its height. It
could probably be 2/3 or 1/2 of the height that it currently is.

I'd drop the word "Navigation" from the top of the menu. It's
superfluous, everyone knows that those links are the menu.

what you say.

Thank you all for your suggestions they are all really helpfull.

Hello,

I think you would do better to replace the Google search box with
Google Ads. I know that I would be a lot more likely to click on a
Google ad rather than do a search in your Google search box. As
someone else said, if I wanted to search Google I would go directly to
the Google web site.

I can confirm that from my experience. The search box was virtually
unused, but the Google ads do quite well. I have now dropped the search
box.

My concern about the search box in this instance was that it was "in your
face". I wouldn't replace it with "in your face" Google ads. Personally I
would use a column at the side.

I reckon having a search box on a site such as this is ok, but maybe
make it smaller and have it set-up so that people can search your own
site, rather then your compeditors.
Oh and Charles what do you think of my new test design
http://freewebdesign.cjb.cc/test
I am planning on replacing my main site shortly with the new design.

I thaught the ops site looked good but I did not spend much time
reading the content due to the subject matter, I am useing a University
proxxy.

Not bad. Clean and simple. The header area is too big, it will push
content further down the page.

I'm not a great fan of repeating navigation links at the bottom of the
page. But if you do so, I think you should have the same links at the
top and bottom. At first I thought the links at the bottom were
different to the top ones.

In Opera, the links go a little bit goofy in a narrow window (450px).

This is quite a narrow window, so it shouldn't be a huge problem, but
personally I would fix it.

When I have a navigation link with more than one word, I use " "
between the words to prevent wrap.

Yeah, that's a far point. I'll look in to fixxing that.
Regarding the footer links, I am considering removing them, as they in
a way don't seam all that necicary.

Have you considered the CSS method?

a {white-space: nowrap}

I've only made one site fully using CSS, and didn't have any such links, so
I wouldn't have looked at that. I have made a mental note though!

If you want to replace it with a site search box, consider using
www.freefind.com. The advantage of freefind (over google) for site
search, is that freefind will spider your site on demand, whenever you
ask it via their control panel. So, you're not dependent on how many
pages google has or has not indexed for your site.

I'm testing freefind for my site at present. It instantly spiders the
whole site (such as it is) when I ask it to, & gives me simple search,
advanced search, an index (a, b, c ...) and a sitemap in one of 3
formats. It's not on my public site yet, so you will not see it there.

You just register, go to the HTML page to grab the HTML, then ask it to
index your site. 5 mintes later - voila!

that I was looking at the same site yes I was thinking of putting it
there I already got the email where it told me it index all my pages
but its still in "beta testing" lol Thanks though I appreciated
