Nervous request for site / blog review / critiqie

| I'm using a CMS called Geeklog to expand my website for the average user.
98% of my web traffic surfs with js enabled with allows me embed mp3 and
video tags plus the usual feeds.
From that standpoint, and knowing that most of my visitors are college kids
and folks across the pond from the U.S., and that it's a
personal/educational/entertainment site rather than commercial ... what's
the score?
How's my implementation of the CMS? Don't mention the skin ... I'm hoping
for a custom donation in exchange for site promotion, possibly through a
contest announced on the website and the usual targets.

Well - using Opera it looks - umm - full! Damn, you sure look like you've
been busy. ;-)
The image at the top left sorta makes it look MySpace-ish. <ducks />

Seems OK to me. I guess the real question here is how do *you* feel about
the implementation? Were you happy with the control you had over the
organization? What ticked you off? Can you live with it?

Sure - you can ask me to say basically nothing any time. ;-)
I am practicing for being a politician - in case I ever need to infiltrate
the Skull @ Bones Society.

Yeah, well, I haven't been around HERE much :) This effort is a
compilation of just about everything I've done so far in a number of
different places plus alot of new stuff and directions.

'sokay. I'm going to get rid of everything touchy on the main site
entrance and migrate the multimedia over to the blog. I'm also going to
prune my mp3s ... hint, hint.

Well, the first one I tried out was phpnuke and, although I had massive
traffic, I had a huge problem with referrer and comment spam. No matter
what I did, it always looked like nuke. Disco Octopus liked the colours
though. I was pretty sour on the more popular cms apps until I tried
geeklog.
I don't think it's appropriate for a newb since most of the configuration
is done manually but, out-of-the-box, it's very user-friendly and I'm
learning the system quickly. I don't even have time to play with
templating yet but it seems simple enough.

Somedays, I wish I'd never started the research ...

Not qualified to review your site, but anyway it looks fine to me. I'm
curious about this page though:
http://www.technorati.com/profile/technohippie
What's up with all those <em> tags? Like in:
<li><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><a
href="/tag/Noteworthy+news?user=technohippie">Noteworthy
news</a></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em></em>...
</li>
Is this a goof or do they serve a purpose?

I'm cluesless what technorati does or doesn't do with their webpages. The
code didn't originate with any of my pages, I assure you :)
