Hi, I keep reading the get rich quick stuff on writing adwords and
something about clickbank. What are these people talking about? I am
tempted, but I know it is a gimmick. I just wanted to know what it was
they are all pushing. Thanks.

A) You can make money with Google Adwords - you put ads on your site,
some people will click the ads, and you will make a couple cents when
they do.

B) You can get rich with Adwords, providing you live somewhere that
$5/year means you are rich :)

So it's all a scam. What if you could put your affiliate link in the
adwords clickthru? Wouldn't that do okay? Not rich, but good?

Some people CAN get rich by affiliate schemes and pay-per-click advertising.
They are usually creative, intelligent and very hard working, ie: the sort
of people who could also get rich sellinng rubber dog turds and fake vomit.

There is no such things as "get rick quick without effort". It is hard
enough to attain "get rich over 20 years with monumental effort". Most
people who try the former quickly realise the latter - and either change
tact, quit or write a book about it to sell to other idiots.

Well, think about it realistically:

What would you consider "good"? $100/month? $1000/month? $10,000/month?

Let's take it at $1000/month - I think that would be "good". From what
I can tell, a payout of $.50 per click-thru would be on the high end,
as would a click-thru rate of 0.5% - so let's take those high estimates
and do the math:

At $.50 per ad click, I would need 2000 click-thru's on my site to earn
$1000. At a 0.5% CTR, that equates to ( 2000/.005= ) 400,000 visitors
per month to my site.

More realistically, you'd be looking at $.25 per ad click at a rate of
0.2% - which would then need 2,000,000 visitors per month to your site.

So, yes, it IS possible to make "good" money? Yes. Just not very likely.

Yes, but aren't you speaking about clicks on the google ads? I may not
have used the right terminology eariler. sorry.

What I meant was that someone creates an adwords ad. The link in this
ad is really an affiliate link to a product or website. The person
that clicked it buys a/the product. The ad making person gets a
commission.

I decided to ask google about it. They said

"Thank you for your email regarding using AdWords to advertise for your
affiliate products. With AdWords, you can design any ad to deliver
users
to the websites you wish to promote. Therefore, you can place AdWords
ads
using your affiliate links.

However, please note that your ad may not show for a search query if
another affiliate or the website that runs the affiliate program also
has
ads using the same (or a similar) domain in the Display URL.

Google's affiliate advertising policy states that we only show one ad
per
search query for affiliates and parent companies sharing the same
Display
URL. Also, an affiliate site should not mirror (be similar or nearly
identical in appearance to) the parent company's or another
advertiser's
site.

Your ad will be displayed when it outperforms other affiliate and
parent
company ads listed under the same URL. Ad placement is based on the
ad's
Ad Rank, which is determined by various performance factors including
maximum CPC (cost-per-click) and Quality Score."

I think it would be hard, but I suppose if one had a LOT of affiliates
and spent a LOT of time with adwords, they MIGHT makes some money.
Certainly not easy, but it sounds good on paper. And I didn't even buy
the secret to $15,000 a month books :). Seriously, does this really
sound far fetched (the idea, not the 15k a month).
