To Anyone that can help,

Hello. I'm mainly a front end designer with a brief that requires me to do a bit of backend stuff. I'm looking for someone to advise me as to how to go about learning what I need to learn.

Please note, the site has not been made yet so I'm open to any suggestions as to how to progress.

The task at hand is as follows:

My friend wants to collect contact details from users accessing a certain page of his site, page-x.

When the user goes to page-x a form will pop up that the user has to fill out in order to gain access to page-x.

What I know how to do:

I can make a form using asp that will send its contents to the email address of my friend. However, I'm not going to restrict myself to asp and have time to learn something else if it's more appropriate.

What I don't know:

How to make the fields of the form compulsory, i.e. the form cannot be passed until it's filled out correctly.

and

How to remember the user so that he doesn't have to fill out the form every time he wants access to the page.

and

How I'm going to go about testing this using just my machine.

I hope someone can happily help me with this one.

Thanks
