IE question - disabling referer
|

| I know its possible, at least in other browsers to disable the feature that
lets websites see where you came from ...
The reason I need to do this is that I often go from a website I can't let
any one know about, to the websites who would be particularly interested in
it ...
So how do I fix it so I don't come up in the logs ?
Cheers G

Use a different browser. As far as I know, you cannot change this in
vanilla Internet Explorer.

web proxies and some firewalls can be configured to do this - which have
the advantage of working with all browsers you may use.
however - what happens when you access the link from another workstation?
or if someone else (or a bot) follows the link?
perhaps a server side solution would be better - although I can't think of
one now.

Yes. Here's the Firefox/Mozilla PrefBar. See the checkbox?

Get it here: http://prefbar.mozdev.org/
Opera: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Network
Uncheck "Enable referrer logging"
