Author Do you like this new logo/root menu design?

Hi everyone, long time no see. I want to first thank everyone for your
past suggestions for my algebra.com. It now has a specialized (for
math) content management system, user submitted lessons, quizzes, and
problem solving by free tutors.

Now someone proposed a new logo design for the front page.

Can you compare the current one

http://www.algebra.com/

and the proposed one:

http://dsl.algebra.com/tmp/new-designs/alex/index.htm

Any thoughts?

thanks

See - no, as I like elements from both

For the site I would probably stick with the tabs, and use a different font

When you say tabs, which design do you mean? The present design?

I like the new one....The second one....I think it will have a wider appeal
than the first one and gives, dare I say, a more professional feel.....

Hey Igor,

You sounded like you wanted to compare logos on the old page and the new,
but you don't have any logo on your old one! Am I missing something? Also,
since the proposed new design page is virtually empty and free of clutter,
it is really hard to judge: of course a nice open page like that is going
to look better than the one with all the info and the links. And the font
on the old page is not too good, so don't transfer it to the new one. I
think you'd want to stick to verdana for the new one.
Also, a suggestion from a fellow AdSense publisher: move your leader down,
below the title. The very top of the page is a blind spot, and,
additionally, when you show an ad first, before any content, it leaves a
bad impression. You have a great site, and you should make the ads a bit
more subtle. Interesting enough, you may found that your clicks will go up
if the ads are more subtle and better integrated with the content instead
of just shouting at the visitors from the very fist line.

Good luck!

I prefer the new design - but,

for one moment I thought the lines behind ALGEBRA meant that there was
a musical connotation. Lets say, 'a minor distraction'.

hey Ig! how's it going?

way, way better. tabs are good but your whole page was cluttered last time.
maybe tabbing horizontally for section content under these main navigation
elements would work for you. but i agree with FS et al, a much more
professional and appealing presentation.

i'd be inclined to tell you to stick with the transitional DTD for now.
what i think you should do is wrap your whole page (like everything between
<body> in a containing <div> and put your content into a containing <div>
as well. This way you can bounce in and out of tabled layouts. more
flexibility that way.

anything for a bro.

How about
If 3(4x+5(3.14))=P, then 6(8x+10(3.14))= Algebra
(In a fancy graphic)

I agree with the other poster. It looks like a musical theme. Here's another
idea.
http://www.page-zone.com/design.html
(top graphic) Its an ancient design I did with a title over greyed out html
code. Change the html code to algebra formulas, have it done by a competent
graphic artist (something I didn't do) and your all set.
