*sigh* IE is so stupid.

I'm very much in favor of tightening security controls in Internet Explorer
for those people that insist on using it. (And there ARE some people who do.
I know some of them.) But why, oh why, $DEITY please tell me why IE insists
on giving me a message that it's blocked active content when I'm reading an
XML file? XML files consist of text. Plain text. That's it.

You are probably trying to read it with an ActiveX control, and ActiveX
controls are active content.

Dassright, because it displays formatted text and the elements that have
child elements are collapsible. I wonder if there's a way to just get IE to
display plaintext - or maybe I should just re-associate .xml files with
Firefox :)

Might be easier to re-associate XML *and* HTML with firefox. Would make
your browsing experience in general much less stressful! <grin>

Firefox has been my default HTML browser since the day I installed it.
Before that, it was Mozilla 1.x and before that, Netscape 4. The Mozilla
Foundation should consider setting Firefox as the default XML viewer when
you set it as the default web browser. I ought to go to their Bugzilla site
and put in a feature request...

I don't know. Why does IE insist on giving you a message that it's
blocked active content when you're reading an XML file?
