Greetings One and All

Find myself in need of a recipie to do stuff with strawberries[1] - have
more fruit than space and it would be a shame for them to go to waste.

Got a favourite smoothie mix perhaps? please do share :)

Here comes summer
Here comes the weekend [2]
OMG here come the in-laws

[1] yes I know.
[2] amounts to pretty much the same thing in dear old Blighty.

Okay, off-topic is off-topic, but this... This is *really* off-topic,
don't you think? Like,
the-only-reason-you-can-post-this-in-AWW-without-getting-flamed-is-because-you're-a-regular
type off-topic.

BTW, I found some in rec.food.recipes:

Nah, the smoothie thread is an annual AWW event.
If you missed it in the past, you may need to free up some space in the
killfile :o)

yes, yes - I can do that. was rather hoping to elicit personal
favourites[1] as this subject (well fruit smoothies) has been discussed
here before - now I could cite a few URLs but we can all use the archive
(I hope)

yes yes, I know [consider myself smacked] :)

[1] The shared experience thing, not forgetting some recommensation may be
marginally more appealing than an untried scoop from an unknown source.

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, Frozen Strawberry Margarita, Strawberry
Shortcake...

Tried and tested: just plain milk, strawberries and banana, well
beaten by the blender. (more strawberries than banana)
Could add a bit of cream and sugar too, if you like it rich :-)

> OMG here come the in-laws

Just serve them enough of the alcoholic stuff ;-)

I usually like to go to the BBC food site for recipes as the ingredients
are a little easier to find in UK shops....

A quick dessert.

1 package Strawberry yogurt (6-8 ounces, I think)
Equal amount of Kool Whip (if you don't have it - it's a whipped cream
substitute)
2 9" graham cracker pie crusts
1 pt strawberries (more or less to taste)

Mix yogurt and Kool Whip in a bowl (helps if the Kool Whip isn't frozen). Add
strawberries to taste. Pour into pie crust. Refrigerate until firm.

Takes all of 10 minutes if you have to take the stems off the strawberries and
is delicious, even if you don't like yogurt. The same can be done with
blueberries and other fruits.

Dip them in the kind of chocolate that gets hard when cooled.
I think Reeses makes one brand of this chocolate.
Put them into the freezer for fifteen minutes.
Present on silver platter. Accompany with bubbly wine.

My Grandpa used to say you can make alchohol out of anything. Weeds in the
yard, excess vegetables from the garden, fruit, local native plants. We
tried alot of strange brews, ales, meads, wines, and liquers. The
information is available online.

Take a piece of puff pastry.

About half an inch from the edge of the pastry, score a line around the
piece. This is the hardest step to explain without a diagramme. After
having done the step, your pastry should look like this

__________________________________

..............................
: :
: :
: :
..............................
__________________________________

The line made of dashes and pipes is the edge of the pastry. The line made
of stops and colons is cut only half way down through the thickness of the
pastry.

Brush the pastry with milk and place in the over on about 180 deg C until
golden brown. Remove from the oven and then push down on the middle
segment of the pastry. The middle section should collapse forming a
shallow trough.

Melt some dark chocolate and drizzle the middle area with it. While the
chocolate is melted, pile in sliced strawberries. Allow the chocolate to
solidify.

Put a 50/50 mixture of jam and boiling water in a small cup and mix
together to form a glaze. Brush this over the tops of the strawberries
with a pastry brush.

Wait for the entire dish to cool. Dust with icing sugar.

Voila.
