Just (finally) got my head around M2s filters. Maybe there's a better way
but here's what I did...

Add filter 'AWW'
o Rule #1: newsgroups contains alt.www.webmaster
o Rule #2: from header does NOT contain [twat]
o Rule #3: entire message does NOT contain [dumb shit]

rule #1 was the bit I was struggling with

data definitions for rules #2 and #3 should be fairly obvious and are set
to personal preference.

Now, it would be real cool if I could apply more complex data definitions
- perhaps with the regex engine. Anything containing both 'Bush' and
'Blair' for example.

Also more control over the "and/or" hierarchy would be good. Maybe I
missed something.

Has that annoying M2 problem been fixed? The one that only allows you to
download so many messages from a NG (500 or something) without having to
paste some tourettes style command line to retrieve the rest....?

hrmm - probably, never noticed a problem. If you have a set of repeatable
steps I'll be glad to make the test.

I don't have Opera at the mo. But when I've tried it in the past it's
quite easy to replicate.

Simply subscribe to a new ng (One that is quite active)

And m2 will only download the last 500 or so messages - Not the whole lot.

No option to set otherwise - it seems to be fixed at 500. Thunderbird
and Bloatlook Excess allow you to download the whole group's messages
(depending on how many your new servers stores)

nope - still don't 'get' it.

Anyone know how to build the filter so I don't see my own 'sent' items?
The filter is showing a double entry for all my posts. I'm sure it's just
the filter - doesn't appear the same in normal view and I'm sure a passing
wit would have made some wisecrack already if all my posts were duplicated.
