| Speaking of which (coming off of the other thread) it seems to me that the
definition of webmaster has shifted abit. When the term first appeared it
was with postmaster, dnsmaster, newsmaster, as mandatory contact points for
the person running the server.

You mean that if I'd been a webmaster x years ago I'd have been in
control of the server only, not the website?
What's the value of 'x' btw?

I could look it up specifically but Im talking about the initial specs for
http and html which gave birth to WWW
WHen I worked for ISPs we always had a webmaster which managed the apache
server and fronted the user requests concerning websites. It relieved the
root admin from that portion of the workload. Same as DNSmaster and
PostMaster did. We all could. It just designated which sysadmin had the
functional responsibility
