To me that image comes with the memory of sitting at a desk in a cold
office, sipping hot chocolate from a plastic cup, trying to wake up
after a too short night's rest, drying my coat above the heater that's
just been switched on, and waiting for the terminal to connect to the
main computer on the 8th floor...
That image almost makes me wish to go back to working in an office <g>

Now this is interesting. I can not stand LCD secreens. Unless one is
at exactly the right viewing angle they are hard to read. While my CRT
screen (we have both in the office) is usable from a wide range of
angles. I wont use LCD if I can help it.

I would love an LCD (can't currently afford a new monitor) for a
different reason. I'm farsighted, and the further away the screen is,
the more comfortable my eyes are. With a flat screen, I'd have
another 12" of focal distance and much happier eyes.
It's similar to why I miss having a baby grand piano - I used to be
able to push the music much further away from me so I could read it
more comfortably.

Old or cheap ones, yes. Mine has a viewing angle of ~70 degrees either
side, and is perfectly usable whatever obscure angle I happen to be
sitting at.

Thanks, but no thanks. A CRT won't fit in the space available, hence
the use of a (an?) LCD screen, plus the operator (not me) prefers it.

The detail is (mercifully) obscured - by the angle ;)
[1] Remember children, this is usenet where your on-line correspondent may
not be all they appear to be, conversely they could be a whole heap more.
For example: you have no idea if all the other posters are in fact the
same person (or AI robot)
For example: you have no idea if the tantalising tease you've been
dallying with is in fact an overweight middle-aged drunkard (and vice
versa).
For example: .... do I need to go on?
