I downloaded the new firefox 1.5 upgrade but I get an "unspecified
error" when I try to open the app. Anybody know what the problem could
be?

You broke it. :-)

The malfunction is probably being caused by pre-existing settings. The
only way I know to resolve this is to uninstall all Firefox apps and
extenstions, delete the associated directories and then reinstall 1.5.

A further step that may be necessary is to search and destroy all
Firefox settings in the registry.

There's always IE. :-)

The uninstall/reinstall isn't so bad. Cleaning up the registry is a lot
easier with a product like Registry Mechanic

I'd rather upgrade to a UA that didn't try to be too clever for its own

So, what's a "UA" for us un-enlightened?

Urine Analysis ...

Oh wait, that's just one of many when Googling:
define: ua

It's a User Agent - your browser. :-)

Thanks for the info. I can't believe there are those that don't like
FF. The developers are certainly offering lots of options. Perhaps MS
contributes to the problems. We have all heard reports of programmers
making changes to the OS to break competitor's offerings ;)

Ever since I upgraded FF, Flash doesn't work any more. I don't have
time to reinstall right now, so I use Opera for flash and FF for other
sites, leaving IE for those that absolutely require it (like my bank).

Actually, I prefer not having Flash. It has to be the most annoying

I like to have the choice of using it or not. Although I find most
uses of Flash annoying, there are a couple of sites I visit that are
useless without it.

Flash Player 8.0 does not work if you use Adblock with OBJ-TABS enabled

To disable OBJ-TABS, do the following:

1. Open the Adblock preferences (Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences in
Firefox)
2. Click on "Adblock Options", and untick "Obj-Tabs"

In the Adobe Reader preferences, under "Internet":
Turn off "Allow fast web view"
Turn off "Allow speculative downloading in the background"

Thank you very much - no idea if it does the trick - it'll probably be
