| Hello Everyone Again!
I have re-done my website, removed the frames, removed the flash entrance,
and hope it will be easier to navigate.
I would like to jazz it up, however im not to sure how to, but any tips on
that would rock as well, I can do all the basics im sure, I would like to
create something similar to http://www.bobbibillard.com/index.php her site
is great. Im not a naughty model like her though ... ;-) ............. But
her site is nice, the scrollbars, the way her pictures and links are merged
into one, I just wish I had the knowledge on how to do that, and make it
look great!
Does anyone know how to put a form on my website? Here is a link
http://rachaellopez.com/tfp.htm I tried to do, it .. any tips? Any easier
ways? Don't worry that is not linked to my site, it said that it had to be
published to work, so I tried it and well .. it didn't work. I need to have
"web server and FrontPage Server Extensions" for that form to work, I just
thought it would have added a little pizzazz.... you know a trendy form ;-)
For now here is my revamped user and dial up modem friendly website:
http://rachaellopez.com I cant thank you all enough for your time and effort
in helping me to improve my website.
Cheers Rach xx
Ps. I am going to be posting in a new style now :-) You will see when I
reply .. *he he* I have learned. *blinks*
Pss. Is my website good for search engines and all those odd spidery
creatures? *shivers*
-------------------------------------------
Do something nice for someone today. It will come back to you tomorrow.

Hi.
Yes it is easier to navigate.

I would maybe suggest then, to take a good look at her source code and
maybe save a copy of it to your PC and study it and then try and create
something similar.
Im not a naughty model like her though ... ;-) ............. But

As many people will tell you on this NG. Stay away from FrontPage
Extentions..... They can be buggy apparently.for that form to work, I
just

Yeah. That's kool. In order to create a half decent form though, that
is hard for people to hack. You need some sort of Server Side Include,
such as CGI or PHP. But I think a simple form on your contact page
would work well. It would save you from haveing to have a direct link
to your e-mail adress.
you know a trendy form ;-)

That's fine. I don't mind helping.
Just as a side note. You need to give your images more descriptive alt
text. Just the file-name is not really enough for people without images
or who are viewing your site with screne readers.

Chad, may I just repeat what Dylan wrote the other day?
Please skip one line between quoted text and your own reply, and skip
another line between your reply and the next bit of quoted text.
Also, please have your signature as "dash-dash-space-newline (very
important)-your name/url"
Thanks.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... Actually. That's not really the case.....
The fact is that technicly speeking I don't actually read these posts
at all. I use Jaws For Windows5.0, a screne reading program and it
actually handles the quoted text O.K........
Note I wil work on my signiture though...

It does. But it's you who has to type the reply, right? So just hit
the return key everytime you want to start a reply.

You're almost there :-)
It's not dash dash dash, but dash dash space.
And you did skip a line above your reply, so that is possible for you
too. Must not be too difficult to also skip one below your text, even
right before your sig.
Last bit if advice: snip whatever is left of the quoted message below
your sig. Thanks again :-)

Much better, but I did see one problem on your gallery. I could navigate
to pages two and three, but I couldn't get back to page one:
"The requested URL /pics/index.htm was not found on this server. "
Looks like this happened because you changed naming schemes.
Page one is:
http://rachaellopez.com/pics/gallery.htm
Pages two and three are:
http://rachaellopez.com/pics/index2.htm
http://rachaellopez.com/pics/index3.htm
And I think your bio should be fleshed-out (pun intended) a lot more.
I'd make it a first-person rather than the third-person narrative that
it is now. You should also list your education and some details about
the modeling jobs you've had.

If I was blind, I would rate it as a major achievment just to connect to
the internet, use a screen-reader, and participate in usenet.
Never minding details about spelling or presentation.
I would say give the man a XXXXing break.

If I had know that, then I wouldn't have even mentioned the quoting

I don't see your point really.
Are you saying that while correct posting style is well within his
capabilities, he should be excused cause he's blind? That's what I
call discrimination, Mr. Sweeney :-)
Obviously, he wasn't aware of missing the extra empty lines, but
that's why we pointed it out. So, yes, I'll give him a break for not
noticing before. And I'll give him another if he says that he can't
make carriage returns for whatever reason. But he hasn't said that
yet, and I doubt he will ;-)

Well you would be wrong. Most services and equipment are provided with
sighted people in mind. Due to this, most tasks for disabled people are
ten times harder than they need to be, and to succeed in them is a major
achievment.
I worked with disabled people for three years, so I have first-hand
experience, not that I need it to refute your comments.
My point that "you can't see" (more accurately - don't want to see) is
that the man deserves an even break.

Yes. Just like speaking English or Portuguese is an achievement for me
as a Dutch person. I wouldn't have learned it correctly if no one ever
corrected me though.

Sorry, but my Dad's wife is deaf and I've known her for 5 years now.
Does that make me an expert on how Chad feels about being told that
there should be an extra empty line which he hadn't noticed so far?

| Why all this brou-ha-ha?
Els was very polite in how she made suggestions to Chad. Unlike some
regulars here, she didn't say "Hey, you idjut, don't you know how to
post?" Instead, she respectfully made suggestions about things he
might do that would cause people to be more likely to read his posts
and not to yell at him in the future.
It is as wrong to assume someone can't do something because they are
blind as to assume that they can do it. I know people with visual
impairments who would find properly formatting a sig fairly easy, once
they were given detailed instructions on how to do it. I also know
people whose vision is perfect who are completely incapable of even
making a sig, let alone doing it correctly.

Well done Rach...nice bottom-post! (A very crucial hyphen there!)
Sorry to be a bore, but you need a space after the "--" bit in your sig,
so it looks like this "--space", not the actual word "space" but a space
space if you get my meaning. It stops it getting quoted back.
Your posts are sexy enough for me as they are!

the reasons you think you're single aren't quite the reasons you are ;)

Bugger bugger bugger!! I knew it was a huge distance, that's why it
stuck in my mind!
Sorry if I came across Viper-like. It wasn't my intention.

That too, but 3,000 miles in the same direction would have him
drowned. Don't think he deserves that :-)

Yup - but Charles didn't jump on you for saying it.
Its amusing/bemusing to see how two people can say the same thing in
similar tones and one of them get attacked but not the other -
seemingly purely on the basis of personal animousity rather than
content or tone.

Sexy posts are good posts! One^H^H^H Two things though, as Els has
pointed out, you need to snip the sig lines etc when you reply, and as
Charles has pointed out you need to add a space character (not Marvin
the Martian though) after the final dash in your sig-sep.
I suspect (third time in one thread!) that you are having these problems
because you are using Outhouse Expose as your newsreader, but installed
OE QuoteFix (Google for it) will help greatly there.

Of course it wasn't. But if there were no Viper, you'd still come

Uhm - yes, indeed it is. Just to add another point of reference for you
.... Usenet is not a help-desk. You will make a post, some others may
respond, if you're lucky those responses will cover the issues raised in
your post. If you are exceptionally fortunate there may be one or more
replies which contain enough info for you to 'fix your problem'.
In any event, have fun.

Speaking personally, I get on well with all my Xs and have no issues with
them being nearby or not. In fact one even calls round once or twice
every blue moon for a discrete assessment of her latest beau.
Conversely, when last single I did pay very close attention to the
'doorstep' principle. :)

Do remember that each of us has a different view of usenet and its
participants - for example, not all posts make it through to all servers.
There are a whole load of display differences too - aside from the
obvious things like different usenet clients, some folks set different
authors to be displayed in different colours. Then there's the issue of
timing wrt sleep, mood, tannin, caffine etc.

If you're determined to build and maintain the site yourself -- a
commendable goal, to be sure -- you are very, very much better off
learning basic HTML. Absolutely stay away from FrontPage, at the very
least.
You might want to look into using a template for your site. There are a
lot of nice-looking templates available, free or inexpensive. Just search
for "web template" or perhaps "modeling web template". You'll still want
to have some basic HTML under your belt, though.

I'd suggest larger copies of your gallery pics. Some of the ones you have
are difficult to see clearly. If you're concerned about people on dialup,
you could have an intermediate image with a note to click for the full-
size image. So it would go thumbnail -> medium -> full.
Change the ALT text on the picture image to "Gallery" rather than "Index
Page" -- it's not clear what index page it's referring to.

Yeah. fare enough to I would reckon..
I have to say that I was not really aware of the whole signiture thing,
well not on NG's anyway. I know for one thing that PHPBB forums have a
function in the profile settings where you can add a sig but I don't
think Google has this.

Well, my ex- is a lousy husband and in many ways a screwed-up person,
but he's a loving father and a very loyal friend. Although I have no
wish to spend large amounts of time wiht him, I know I can count on
him in case of emergency (including running over at 11 p.m. in the
pouring rain to watch our son so I could take the very ill cat to the
emergency vet.) I don't think he'd want to hear about my beau (were I
lucky enough to have any).
