Author Not receiving any email...?
Heidi

Okay any thoughts as to what happened is appreciated...

For some odd reason I am not getting emails, not even those I sent to myself
to
test it. It is only to my domains all hosted at one place.

Also one domain regularly got spam etc. to the default account but that
account
has been empty a good while now which is really not normal...

one domain I have hosted elsewhere works and of course my main email
with my ISP is working. I have contacted the hosting provider about this.

while I wait for a reply, any thoughts as to what could be causing this?

Heidi,

Perhaps their mail server (sendmail, exim, etc.) is down?

Can yuo send mail through the failing domain? Typically the same mail
program is used for sending and receiving mail, while a different
program is used fr delivery.

Another way to test if they're using sendmail protocol (and not a secure
server). telnet to the mail host port 25 and see if you can connect.

Yes I was able to send an email in the sense I didn't get any errors but so
far
I have not received it. I sent an email from that domain to my ISP email.

Beats me, but I wanted to tell you that the faq is down as well. Maybe
all your domains at that host are down?

Obviously you didn't receive the e-mail saying the e-mail system was down.

Test by sending an email to another account and see if you get it.
If you do, it's their end.

Hmm I have my main ISP email set up as the contact email...

I did several times and I never received it. It isn't in my cpanel webmail
either...

Heidi,

There are a million and six things which could cause a problem like
you're having and all of them will require your hosting provider to
investigate and resolve the issue as it is a server problem of some sort.

Providing the host's network is well configured your incoming and
outgoing emails should be cached in the queue right now and be delivered
once the problem is corrected, so you shouldn't lose any emails inbound
or outbound.

Since you posted your first message about this several hours ago,
hopefully your host has responded and is looking into the trouble for
you already.

Good luck,

I had this happen to me last week 2 different days. I couldnt figure what
was wrong because the server said everything was ok. I then restarted exim
nothing, restarted mysql and all the emails came flooding in.... Not sure
why, all databases worked via the web just email wasnt working....

Sounds like a nameserver issue.
I'd ask the host to see if they haven't messed with sumthin.
