I bet its from all the spammers spamming from their servers.

Didn't MSN drop all news groups some time ago?

I hate AOL. I only use the instant messenger for my friends. I'm using SBC
Yahoo! DSL through Outlook Express, and although it's not fantastic, it's
fine for me seeing as I really don't care about cool features. We had AOL
before, and they are slow, stinky, and just plain dumb. I say to anyone
using AOL, quit before they charge you $100 for premium services you never
asked for.

I didn't know MSN offered Usenet at all.

I'd chop off my hands at the wrists before I gave Yahoo! or SBC any of my
money. Yahoo! is too big for their own good, and SBC are thieves.

I think phase II of this project will prove troublesome.

They host spammers and refuse to stop it. Most if not all of their IP space
is listed at most blocklists.

MSN Messenger is *much* better than AIM. I use Trillian when I need
to IM someone who only uses AIM - that way I don't have to deal with
the AOL webpage popping up at start-up.

Well, they routinely attempt to get around state regulations in an effort to
drive everyone else out of business, but that doesn't qualify as thieves. I'm
referring primarily to my SBC "you had no working DSL or dialtone service for
two months but we're only going to credit you $5" episode. I've posted about it
multiple times in multiple places, however, since I'm not absolutely sure
Google Groups URLs aren't going to change again (since the new system is still
in beta):

**fire up Google Groups in your browser

**search for the thread "Dallas Phone Service - SBC Versus Comcast?" in
comp.dcom.telecom

This is a pretty concise explanation of my problem from back in October of '03.

The "thieves" comment was in reference to their refusing to give me my money
back for service they obviously weren't providing.

That too. But I was referring to their attempt to screw me out of close to $200
in payments for services not rendered.

Trillian 3.0 is really nice. I use it for MSN, AOL *and* Yahoo IM. Most of the
latest IM features are included. Audio is available in the free and paid
versions and video is available in the paid version (which I think is $25).

You can chat securely between two Trillian sessions or use SimpLite as an IM
proxy if you're chatting between Trillian and another IM client.

And 3.0 fixes the annoying bug that sounded the "sign-on" alert sound whenever
an MSN buddy came back from idle.

Hadn't heard about that. I'm stuck with them for phone & dsl & so far so
good. My sister has had it out with them about them routing international
phone calls through ATT or MCI instead of her long distance carrier. On one
call ATT charged $4.57 per minute where her carrier charges 46 cents.

But now it has an annoying "feature" where it underlines any word in
your chat that can be found in Wikipedia. I haven't been able to find
anyway to turn that off.
