Hi,
I am new to VRML. Is it possible to convert VRML files to JPEG files on
the server. Let's say I have a 3d model of a table(a VRML file) on the
server and I want people to apply textures and color to the different
parts of this table on the fly and have server create jpeg file from
this VRML file and return it. Does anyone know any application or
script that will run on web server that will do this?

BSContact (from http://www.bitmanagement.de ) has a take screen shot
function, which can be called from javascript or use the SDK. Basically
this would mean running a windows machine with some custom software to
control the local instance of BS Contact.

If however all you want is to create a texture in vrml and save it as a
jpeg on the server, that is possible without major programming, PHP and
Perl can read/write to jpeg/png files. I have the code for this myself,
but its not for public release so contact me privately.
