Hi,

I have a lot of animations about molecules in movement, etc, and they
are in VRML format.

I would like to use these animations in a powerpoint (it is the
computer where I wll give a talk and I can not modify) presentation.
But I have the limitation that in powerpoint only AVI and/or MPEG
animation files can be used.

I need a program to convert from VRML to AVI/MPEG, I googled and I
found this:

http://www.parallelgraphics.com/products/moviemaker/

But it's not a free program, so do you know an Open Source alternative
or another method to convert between VRML animations to AVI/MPEG ?

Thanks.

Horacio.

The unregisterred version of Contact 7 will do it but you will have a
floating logo on top of your model.

You could also try Snagit (http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.asp)
This does screen grabs to AVI and the trial version is fine.
Let us know if it works.

You could use this:

You must have either blaxxun Contact 5 (without logo ;-) or BS Contact
6+ installed,
but you can interact with the scene too while it's recording.

CamStudio would be a good tool too, but it's not specific to VRML.

Anyway, does anybody know if VRML can be converted to another (more
known or common) animation formats ?

Maybe another formats can be used to render to AVI/MPEG easier.

Thanks.

3D Studio MAX can read rather complex VRML97 files, including animation.

Cinema4D can read VRML97 files, but i don't know, how good is it when
reading animations....

FreeWRL (available for Mac and Linux) is a Open Source VRML browser, that
can take continuesly snapshots.
The pictures can be converted to any movie format.
