Some versions of X3D-Edit use the nist vrml to x3d converter
http://ovrt.nist.gov/v2_x3d.html
AFAIK there are multiple versions and some of the versions convert from
x3d classical VRML encoding to x3d XML encoding.
There is also a problem with the location of some of the nist files,
when some versions of X3D-Edit try to use the converter.
In some enviroments (e.g. when you start X3D-Edit in a Linux/UNIX/MacOSX
commandline) you can see the errormessages.
