Hi,

There is a new technology available that can embed a dynamic 3D model in
a PDF file. You only need the latest version of Adobe Reader 7.0
(http://www.adobe.com/) to be able to view and interact with the 3D models.

The 3D models must be in yet another 3D file format, U3D
(http://www.3dif.org/), to embed them in the PDF document.

The models are available at http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/cis2.html At the
top of the web page under the "New" heading on the right there is a link
down to the PDF documents.

The first 3D model is embedded in a PDF file from SDS/2. The second is
embedded in a text document that explains the process to create the PDF
files. This PDF file is a bit big (3MB) relative to the 3D model and
we're working on figuring out why it isn't small like the other PDF file.
