Author Discussion: Which DBMS is better for VRML?

As have discussed before, to connect VRML with a database, we can use either
Java written script nodes or External Authoring Interface. What I want to know
a bit more is which DBMS tool to choose. Suppose we need to achieve the
following functions:
1. save nodes into the database
2. save world into the database (having lots of different worlds)
3. retrive from the database and display the objects in the GUI according to the
user's input in the GUI

Personally, I don't think MS Access is capable of doing this kind of job.
Oracle seems pretty powerful, but it's also much more complex, plus its
interface is boring. Have any one of you had some relevant experience and wanna
discuss about it?

How about MySQL
I recently started using this after Ascess & MS SQL Server and found fast &
stable.
Its free, multi-platform, Open Source and with loads of good shareware
manegment tools.

Stay away from the arcane world of Oracle, its is a complete nightmare.

I know how "horrible" Oracle is, but that is really SQL, if you know what I
mean.
