Hi !

As the year 2004 passes, it is time to ask, how long it will take, till
we get access to the offical X3D standard. The website

http://www.web3d.org/x3d/specifications/

only lists drafts "with only details changed" to the current ISO status of
discussion.

But without the details, we can not use it as a solid base for further
developments, noone wants to implement a moving target 8-(

What is the timeline in 2005 for the public of a offical X3D standard ?

Or are there still some problems ?

I would strongly advise staying AWAY from X3D for professional development!!
Let it mature first!!

X3D is fantastic!! I prefer the XML syntax as opposed to the OpenInventor
syntax of VRML..... BUT, platforms on which to run X3D are SEVERELY
limited!! And the ones that do exist are limited in X3D specification
support..... They are also remarkably buggy and unstable!

yeah good point...
btw1. I noticed that the field 'collide' vanished from Collision node in x3d,
but now there is some new field called 'enabled' (collide is in vrml encoding but not in xml
encoding). Some mistake?
btw2. my 'is this possible' problem is still unsolved. it seems it's impossible in vrml.

Well, if the developers of the tools use also try to implement a moving
target, you should not wonder 8-(
