I am trying to get Peter Gerstman's "AvoidObstacles" PROTO to work locally on
my Dell. So I downloaded the 6 files at

http://accad.osu.edu/~pgerstma/protolib/AvoidObstacles/

and File -> Open File -> AvoidObstaclesExample.wrl in Netscape 7.1
but get error

PROTO Avoidance is not found or does not match declaration
of EXTERNPROTO Avoidance
File: file:///AvoidObstaclesPROTO.wrl

If someone has time could you download the above files and tell me what
I need to do to make this work. Everything works fine doing

File -> Open Web Location ->
http://accad.osu.edu/~pgerstma/prot...=AvoidObstacles
and clicking on the image there.

I would like to understand the code.

No problems under IRIX, but the web was not invented on M$Windows machines...

Your browser misunderstood the location of the EXTERNPROTO file

Did you tried to use a URL with a full path to the file at this point ?

hi Andrew,
In the url field for the EXTERNPROTO Avoidance just remove any folder/
parent directory name and only have the name of the Proto file itself.
Below is fixed example see my annotation.
