VRML viewer for IRIX, stereo?
|
|

| I've been using CosmoWorlds for a couple years now to assemble/display
VRML fly-throughs on an Onyx. This has worked well in the past, except
for the following problem: CosmoWorlds does translation/orientation
animation using a CoKeyframeAnimation node, i.e.:
Group {
children Transform {
children [
DEF _0 Group {
children [
DEF Ani1 CoKeyframeAnimation { ##Keyframe
Animation Node
children DEF Time TimeSensor {
cycleInterval 4
startTime 0
stopTime 1
loop TRUE
}
duration 4
framesPerSecond 10
}
DEF UnnamedShapeDiffuseColorInterp_3
CoHermiteColorInterpolator {
..
..
..
Lately, however, i've been writing my own animation sequences using the
simple, standard TimeSensor node plus one of the many Interpolator
nodes. These animations run great with the Blaxxun plug-in on a PC, but
they don't work with CosmoWorlds because the software provides no way to
activate this sort of animation. They do run in CosmoPlayer on the
Onyx, but then i cannot view them in stereo.
Is there a good, preferably stand-alone (non-plugin) VRML viewer for
IRIX that runs in Stereo?
thanks,
john

There is a graphical "cosmopackage" program, which converts IRIX CosmoWorld
specialities into standard VRML97.
There is also a "/usr/sbin/worldsToVrml" script, that do the same job.

Beside white_dune (which is more a editor than a VRML viewer), FreeWRL
should run with stereoscopic view (shutterglases based) under IRIX.
At least older versions of FreeWRL worked, for newer versions you may
suffer from a incompatible PERL version 8-(
