Does anybody know what is the best system to make several small elevation
grids from big one? And hights should fit when I load them altogether with
another wrl file?

Is there any program, which can do this?

With cosmoworlds (at least with the version for SGI UNIX (IRIX)) you can
convert elevation grids with "Convert to PEP Object" into a IndexedFaceSets
and then use "Select PEP's" and
"Extract Selected Polygons into a new PEP Object" to cut this IndexedFaceSet
into parts. You can use the "Inline editor" to move this parts into seperate
files.

so long

If you have a thread that uses Sleep with infinite delay, the
system will deadlock.

:))
very simple.

I had grid represented by rows, and needed to cut it in 6 pieces. First I
cut lower half of the grid, changed zDimension to right value, and saved
file under new name. Then did the same thing for the first half. It is
important only to leave connecting row of height values on both files,'cause
they belong to both files. That was quickly done, and I had two horizontal
stripes od grid instead of original grid.

Changes in x direction took little more time, 'cause you have to count exact
number of points for each row to be cuted, but method is the same. It has to
be implemented on both stripes. And at the end you just have to make simple
seventh file, which will reassemble all the pieces via inline.

Because of manualy counting single points in x direction not suitable for
realy big grids, but this time it did a job.
