| Apologies if this is an ignorant question as I don't know that much about
X3d yet.
In VRML, it was possible (in theory mostly) to include script nodes which
allowed one to interface with java or javascript. then there was EAI which
allowed an applet to talk to a VRMl world.
How would these things be done in X3d? Has anyone?

As far as i can remember, one of X3D drafts allowed browsers to support the
old VRML style scripting.

The new X3D style scripting looks somewhat similar to the old VRML style
scripting:

AFAIK there will be a unified interface for both scripting and EAI called
"SAI"

The last M9 release of Xj3D came with the comment "improvements to the
Scripting Authoring Interface (SAI)"...
