Before white_dune gets antiqued next month by the change of header
lines in the current ISO realtime 3D standard 8-) there is a code freeze
beginning with white_dune0.27beta207.
There will be no new features till the new stable version 0.28, only
bugfixing and the update of documentation.
The highlight in the new version is better handling of MF datatypes.
Beside this, it adds rendering of more nodes, more actions and
conversions between geometry nodes.

white_dune still do not support PROTO and scripting, therefore the new
concept of "scripted nodes" has been included.
It makes it possible for a C++ programmer, to include a interesting
geometry or animation PROTO rendering into white_dune. For example, this
makes it possible to convert a SuperExtrusion shape (e.g. rounded box or
rounded cylinder) to a IndexedFaceSet inside white_dune.
There is also a "Adding a new (scripted) geometry node to white_dune"-cookbook
in the developer documentation, you can ask me, if you have a interesting
free software/open source geometry or animation PROTO you would like
to be part of white_dune.
Please test and public crashs and unknown problems to support the new version.
Write to comp.lang.vrml or by personal mail to me.
If you use UNIX/Linux/MacOSX to test, it would be nice, if you could
start it via the debugger in the commandline and type "where", so you can
send better diagnostics.
