| I've been going in circles trying to get my images to display and after
much experimentation, it appears that the background color may be
hiding my images. The alt tags appear in place but no borders or
missing link icons.
Example of HTM image code:
<div id="mainimage">
<img alt="Fill in the blank Individual List" src="lidoc.jpg"
width="91" height="121" />
<p class="caption">Fill in the blank Individual List</p></div>
css mainimage code:
div#content div#mainimage {width:180px; float:left; margin:0 8px 4px
0;}
div#content div#mainimage img {border: 1px solid #960;}
div#content div#mainimage p {font-size:.65em; margin:0px 5px;
color:#C60;}
Any suggestions?

I reported a similar bug with <applet in Netscape, Firefox and
Mozilla. Opera and IE do not have it
Try the other browsers to see if it is you or the browser.

Don't post code to the group, upload a minimised test case and post the
url.

That's discriminatory against those who read news off-line. Unless the
code is too long, code and URL should be posted.
Even for those with on-line newsreaders, seeing what the OP thinks is
the essence of a problem must be useful in deciding whether to visit the
URL - except for those who feel that they must answer everything.

This is the second time, within a short interval, that I've seen you, and
only you, promoting the idea of usenauts on a web-relevant group posting
web-relevant "code". Do you have any supporters, or is this a private
initiative of yours?
In fact, GG says those two harangues promoting the idea of posting code
have been your sole contributions to the comp.infosystems.* hierarchy
in the past week.

Considering how often the problem lies elsewhere - maybe with the
configuration of a server, or some other circumstance which the poster
considered to be irrelevant - I think the more usual convention makes
sense.
Snippets to illustrate a discussion, by all means; but the idea of posting
complete, usable code, just for the benefit of someone who chooses not to
access the web while discussing the web, goes strongly against the general
attitude of many regulars on these groups, as I perceive it.

Perhaps you should consider that those who write material for the Web do
not need to have continuous access to the Net.
It is the intemperate and unfriendly attitude of a few regulars here
that is probably the cause of there being mainly a small number old
regulars here, with few of those who need to learn finding it to be a
place in which they wish to remain.
If you had read my article with the care and ability one expects of one
in your position, you would have perceived that I was supporting only
the posting of short code (and URL). That can, of course, be either a
code snippet or a complete example.
Those with a permanent Web connection will not be unduly affected by
receiving a little more News than they really need.
