Floating images and DL's in IE
|
|
| Lee K. Seitz 2005-11-17, 3:23 am |
| I created this page
(http://home.hiwaay.net/~lkseitz/com...blishing.shtml; CSS at
http://home.hiwaay.net/~lkseitz/comics/newu/newu.css) while
looking at it in Firefox 1.05 (Win 9x) and it looked like I wanted.
Then I pulled it up in IE 6 and found all my images floating off the
right-hand side of the page, regardless of how the browser is sized.
I've put floating images in my DD tags of a definition list (<DL> ).
Is this a known IE bug? Is there a better way for me to float my
images and have it look good in both browsers? In the process of
getting the page like I wanted, I tried floating the text instead of
the image at one point, but that caused some problem that I've now
forgotten what was. Any advice gladly taken.

Sorry to follow up my own post, but apparently I was still floating
the DD elements to the left, in addition to floating the images to the
right. I've changed the text to not float, which brings the images
back on the page. This is what happens when I post at 1:00 a.m., I
guess.
Now, however, I have a new problem. For this page only, the left
margin and border of my containing div (id="border") has gone away.
For an example of what it's supposed to look like, click on any of the
other links in the box at the top. All those pages use the same
stylesheet.
