Author Table resizing between two pages..

I have a problem with a table resizing between
(different) uses on separate pages (it is read in
to each page from a common source).

Since I am not sure whether it's an html or
css problem, I'll start here.

The first instance of the table can be seen here..

It is a little version of the Periodic Table
intended as a navigational tool. (The brief
& standard can also be seen ..type=2, type=3)

Then I drop that table into a cell in a larger table

That's it in the top center, below it is the
'brief' table. Suddenly my 'little' nav tool has
become very much larger.

The styles are fairly straightforward..

Can anyone give me some pointers as to how
I would get the table to appear the consistently
on the two pages?
