rf

Since its creation on 18-nov-03 [1] http://www.forum4designers.com/ has
managed to suck in a massive 46,588 members. [2]This, in a declining .com
era, is a phenomenal achievement. Think about it. 46,588 members in just
under two months. That is over 770 per day, or to put it into Bill Gates
speak [3] one every two minutes. A Massive intake.

Usage of the site is also buzzing. We have a record of up to 618 users
online at a single moment. Amazing. Even more amazing is that this record
was achieved on 04-08-02 at precisely 04:08pm, a whopping fifteen months
prior to the sites creation, give or take a minute. Those of you who
remember the '70s (and if you do then you weren't there) will appreciate
that Dr Who would be very very proud of such a feat.

The content is right there too [4]. Such a diverse plethora of informative
forums boggles this reviewers mind. And look at the information provided:
33,262 threads, containing a cosmically mind numbing 119,239 posts!

This websight [sic] is going to go far.

Cheers
Richard.

I meant it in the sense that the creators glorify it as this fantastic
thing, where as it's only a web based news reader, and I would rather
use mozilla thunderbird any day.

You are forgetting the most important thing about its creators... they
fail miserably to mention the fact that they have stolen all the posts
from Usenet.

I like the fact that under most people's names it says: "Registered:

Surely people will notice that most users are "Not Yet" registered?

The people who post there are not aware that they are in reality posting to
usenet. They think they are posting to a private forum. They do not
understand the usenet etiquette or how it really works. It is also very hard
to hold a 'conversation' with one of them. They do not understand threading
and just post all over the place.

The first one to really come to our attention (*) started posting
attachments. When criticised for this he asked where on the web site did it
say attachments were unacceptable. This of course confused us and has led to
the current state of affairs.

(*) Said poster has now abandoned the web based newsreader and is posting
directly to alt.html.critique.

Cheers
Richard.

Those have been pretty anoying in the photoshop group. They cannot see
the other posts on the group so think they are the only ones posting.
They can't see if the question was answered before or what the usenet
regulars are saying except in reply to their topics.

That's odd. They see all posts from here, even this entire thread which BTW
is number two, just behind some spam.

Of interest is that this thread has had 4 whole views from the website. I
wonder how many views we have from real people with real newsreaders :-)

Wrong slant picky. Visitors are just a waste of bandwith (unless you host
one of those antiquated pay per view bannars). What we need is !buyers!.

I have a couple of commercial sites (my company, my site). If I get 1000
vists a day I think: damn, tyre kickers. If I get *one* buyer per day then I
get rich :-)

BTW Duende's site is a play one AFAIK, just like the one I use here. Just
