...and before you say it... yes i know it looks similar to a well known
software companies web site. this is by specification.

http://sudden.neue.co.uk

the site has been designed to be edited by a CMS so i cant use fancy xhtml
or anything this time around :(

Looks fair to me, nice layout and colour scheme. Good alignments and
associations. I would align the subtitles, such as "Pegasus Software", with
the associated text but maybe that's just me ;-)

Graphics at the top are a bit fuzzy and indistinct. Particularly the "dte"
in the orange square and "accounting software & systems".

Text size could be a bit bigger too I think.

Tables ??

Why can't you use XHTML with a CMS?

What does the meta tag "revisit-after" do?

Chris

provides a clue to SE spiders wrt the authors intentions for update cycles
on the page content. Largely (completely?) ignored by commercial spiders
(google et al) it is virtually worthless and a waste of bandwidth.

thanks...

the CMS is set at html4 content and as the client expects to be able to edit
the site WYSIWYG it helps to hekeep things structured.

The text is just barely too large - I can still make out the words if I
squint. Or, did you want people to read it? It's so hard to tell with
some of these pages if the designer is joking or not. Your page borders
on amusing.

Also, that grey which you are using for the dates is perfect! It's
practically invisible. I just love the way that you toned down the
interactive nature of this page by not using rollovers.

The page doesn't validate, either:

Point(s) taken i will add 'interactivity' back (although i think rollover
buttons are barely that) as for the validation, the sites in development and
some things are completely missing so i need to get these form the client
before i do any of that

But it is hardly difficult to fix! Just change:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetma...=408071&a=y&z=1

to:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetma...amp;a=y&z=1

I guessed that it was probably like that. Like many meta tags!

If you make the menu text sizes a fixed size, surfers will not be able to
mess with them!
....you could also try constructing your menu graphic in a different way to
allow people to choose their own font size as in this example:

impossible.

font size is always in the control of the visitor no mater how much you
try to convince yourself it isn't.

not possible to fix the text size unless u have the menu as an image.

increasing the text size by that much will always screw things up because there isnt enuff
'breathing space' to allow the text to grow

Even this is not enough to fix the text size, as some browsers will zoom
images.

Opera 3 and upwards springs to mind, although there are probably others.
