'Accessible' page:
(1) The verses should all have a punctuation mark of some kind set at
the relevant points to ensure that words don't run into one another.
'Amazing Grace' is fine; the other one isn't.
(2) The headings don't make much sense. Especially something like:
<h1 style="color: black">IT</h1>
<h1 style="color: black">IS</h1>
<h1 style="color: black">DONE!</h1>
This is 3 separate <H1> headings. Think tree structure; think
navigation.
(3) It would be nice to have a Contents list at the beginning of the
page so that I could decide what I want to listen to.
(4) Bagpipe music for <a href="../sounds/amazing_grace4.mid"
tabindex="10" accesskey="y">"Amazing Grace"</a>
will generate a link of [Amazing Grace] which doesn't make sense out of
context (e.g. in a List of Links). You could change it to
<a href="../sounds/amazing_grace4.mid" tabindex="10"
accesskey="y">"Bagpipe music for Amazing Grace"</a>
So that the link reads [Bagpipe music for Amazing Grace]
However, there's still no real indication that this cause a midi-file to
be downloaded, so I suggest that this area needs some re-thinking as to
the clearest way to present it.
........ just a few thoughts.
regards.

"Disabled" was not the keyword. I just cannot see any reason why one
would download _Java_ if one's user agent does not implement
_JavaScript_ or has it disabled. You could as well give the visitor a
link to download Macromedia Flash. The OP confuses Java with
JavaScript.

Could you help me a little here?
Someone earlier told me the difference between Java and JavaScript...
But I guess it didn't sink alla way in...
The Script used to select the MIDI, and to change the jpg files --that is
JavaScript....
However, the Script used for the Clock, that is Java
Am I getting it?
So if you have JavaScript disabled, will the Java Clock still run?
Or is it possible to use one or the other, or none?
And, I need different messages in the two differing situations?
Thanks for your help.

Plus, you'd best fix whatever problems occur at 800x600 - or you will STILL
look like a dummy when soemthing breaks.

why two versions? ok, reading the thread - I know why. But I think you
might serve your visitors better with one scalable, flexible, accessible
version.

I set my screen resolution to 800x600, and the pages work, they just look
big to me... I've increased the font size also at 800x600 and everything
just looks larger than life.
But, in termainal fear of looking like the dummie I may be, I'll check-em
again.
with thanks, Farlo

I'd appreciate your input on this....
I think it is scalable now, as I've managed to be rid of the tables and
fixed
width stuff...
It seems like there is conflicting recomendations outthere...
I would much rather have to just maintain one set of pages.
However, I also want to serve up pages to text only or Aural visiters, and
what I'd
read (I thought) was that a page with GIF, JPG's and javascript ad
infinitum needs a
link to a text-only version....
Then, I guess I went off from there, to the 'hand-held' small screen and
etc in the
CSS "media".
So, I reasoned (perhaps unreasonably) that two versions were needed...
One for small screen, hand-held, text-only braille or Aural etc and the
other...
screen javascript and Java, GIF's etc.
If I can do it with one version, Yes, I would prefer that.
(BTW, the name changes-- are due to my attempting to change to Opera 7.21
and Pegasus
and move out of Yahoo. Eventually I hope to drop all MS ;-)

no - take a look using lynx (or another text only browser).
Images are not downloaded - in their place you will find the alt text.
Javascript is not executed
CSS is ignored
Liberating, ain't it ;o)

Yes!...
I had Lynx many years ago....on an IBM ThinkPad 75mhz....
Just managed to get installed again on a Win XP system...
Had to fight XP, (I hate MS) and me, (hating something makes it harder to
use) for three days... finally figured out how to get the XP system to
allow Lynx to run...(you have to id it as "NT"...)
Thanx William, you just saved me heck-0-meg and time-0-batch.
