Please critique this initial draft

| This is just a rough draft, but I'd like to know if I'm on the right track:
http://www.biowebstudios.com/huganir/index.html
I checked the site with IE 5.0 and Opera 5.0 on Windows 98. I'm especially
interested to know whether there are any problems when the site is viewed on
a Macintosh.
I know about the debate regarding tables vs. CSS for layout, and I know I'm
missing lots of "ALT" tags -- so no need to mention these issues.
Thanks.

So why are you abusing tables then? There is nothing on that page that
necessitates the use of tables.

As above - why haven't you fixed it? <nitpick>They are alt _attributes_,
not tags.</nitpick> ;-)
Sorry, I don't have a Mac, but here goes anyway...
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=h...dios.com%2Fhuga
nir%2Findex.html - mostly missing alt attributes, which you said you know
about, but a few other errors as well.
CSS validates - excellent!
Looks good in Moz1.5, IE6, 06.04 and O7.21 (Win2k).
You could do the arrow appearing on hover for the links in CSS, and I would
prefer some other sort of hover effect too, but that's just me. :-)
Is "Protocals" a typo, or does it have special meaning?

Hi, Alex:
- protocals ---> protocols
- I would like to see the blue match the blue in the two graphics. Color
needs to help readers focus, and this bright blue just draws attention to
itself. Try #6C9CC6.

There's only 1 heading on the page and that's a <h3> on 'Home Page' no
<h1>, no <h2> ...............
.....suggest you:
(a) make 'The Laboratory of Richard L. Huganir, Ph.D.' a <h1>
(b) make Home page a <h2>
(c) make the navigation start with a <h2>
regards.
