Question about Windows XP and VM if VM is not running.

Hello

I am very thankful for any tip or help. I am trying to run saxon.exe to
build up and HTML Dokument by using an XML and an XSL Document. In my command
window the following information appears (Windows XP): The Microsoft virtual
machine cannot be found. Class not registered. I tried to find a proper
download or installation information on microsoft. com but I stil don't know
how to install a VM if there is no msjav*.dll or exe on your system. My
computer is very new and was installed by HP. The classpath to java and saxon
is set and java is working. I hope my question is not to confusing. All my
examples are working on a Windows 2000 System and on some Windows XP
machines. Please help

If you have Java working then I assume that means you have installed the
Sun Java JRE. That way you don't need the MS Java VM and could use
Saxon, if you need that, with the SUN Java JRE. See the Saxon page
<http://saxon.sourceforge.net/>
about more information, the right download and the instructions on how
to run Saxon from the command line with the SUN Java JRE.
If you have Saxon specific questions then they are best asked on the
Saxon mailing list.

If you want to perform XSLT transformations on Windows you can also use
MSXM 3 or 4 which can be downloaded here:
<http://msdn.microsoft.com/XML/XMLDownloads/default.aspx>
There you will also find the command line utility msxsl.exe to perform
XSLT transformations from the command line using MSXML 3 or 4.

And if you have then problems doing XSLT or XPath with MSXML then this
group or microsoft.public.xsl is the right group.

how to control, if MS Java VM is installed:
http://home.arcor.de/jterlinden/w2ksp4.htm#java

If MS Java VM is not there, you can install Sun Java.

If you have to use the MS Java VM, read this page (espacially chapter
3), to (re-) install the MS Java VM:
http://home.arcor.de/jterlinden/java.htm

The website is for W2k-users, but the (re-) installing of the MS JVM
should also work on XP. This was the feedback of some users in MS
newsgroups.
