What music format will Publisher 2007 accept to publish on web si.

The 2007 publisher destroys my page music [which has always worked fine in
previous publisher suites - it is mpeg form] on my website when I publish. My
web preview is fine and all is heard perfectly. But once it is published it
changes to a skin package which will not play on the website. There is no
literature informing me what kind of format publisher will accept. Anyone
know what goes?

Few people put muzac in the background of a web site because it alienates so
many. You might have to wait a long time before someone who actually does
it, answers you question. In the meantime you might try .wav, .mid, .midi,
..rmi, .au, .aif, or .aiff files.

It's like a layout theme. I've seen several for forums.

Yes of course a skin...but I can't imagine how music file would switch to
skin(?)

Thanks for the reply and tip. Original format was wave but I had been using
mpeg as it is a smaller file. Worked fine until the system began changing it
to the skin package and not leaving it as mpeg file. I have tried .mid and a
few other midi resources and will check the rest out. I may go back to wave
and see if it will accept that. PS it's probably not considered muzak if
that's the theme of the site, and it's a good way to sell your music. again -

Not having ever used music or muzac ;-) in a site, or having viewed many
that do (at least not for long), my knowledge about this area is limited. I
have not read any posts about a change in the way Publisher handles
background music, so your experience is valuable feedback. And you are
correct about my obvious bias about using music in a website, and how it is
probably appropriate in your site. I stand corrected.

The format list I provided came from the "Files of type" from the Web page
Options dialog when you click Browse under Background Sound. These appear to
be the "default" file types of which .mpeg is not one. I have heard of
others using .mpeg, and I have not found any documentation on this either.
From my limited testing, I am not able to get .mpeg files to work in either
2003 or 2007, but .mid files do. I am using IE6 and FF2.0. Perhaps you are
using plug-ins that make, or did make it possible?

I really don't have an answer for you. You may need to use one of the
default file types, and link to your .mpeg files for download???

Let us know what you discover, so I can provide a more objective and
informed opinion next time.
