Why don't my pictures show up?
|
|
|
| I downloaded a MS Publisher Realestate Flyer Template. I switched out their
sample pictures with mine. I converted to a web page and uploaded it to my
website. The pictures show up when I go to Preview the web page on
Publisher, but when I go directly to the website, the pictures don't show up,
just the titles of the pictures. Why???
I ran the design checker and it says "object not visible" for the pictures
and gives me the option to "Fix: bring object to front". I did, but it
doesn't fix it.
I also converted the MS Publisher's original Flyer Template to see if those
pictures show up and they don't either.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!
Thank you.

| Assuming that you are using Pub 2003, then when you Publish to the Web,
Publisher will generate both an index.htm file, and an index_files folder
that contain your other pages and your supporting graphics. It sounds like
you did not upload the index_files folder.

| If you uploaded the index.htm file and the index_files FOLDER and it doesn't
work, then post version of Pub you are using and the URL of your website, we
will be glad to take a look at it.

| And your issue is the same, with the same answer. Upload the index_files
folder. Did you have a different question?

| Lisa,
Your links are pointing to /index.html_files (that's a strange directory
and probably will not work - it normally is /index_files) but they are
located in your root directory. If you take out the /index.html_files
part, leaving a url of http://www.socalsteelcitymafia.com/image3141.jpg
your images show (but not the rest of the page!).

| Sorry I made an assumption, but after reading Mike's reply, I would ask how
did you produce your html? Did you use Publish to the Web, and then what did
you call the default page? It should be index.htm. Secondly, are you using
the subfolder option under Tools > Options > Web tab? What specific steps
are you taking to produce your html files? I can't see how you produced an
"index.html_files" folder???

| David,
Did you read my reply or check her links? She has somehow created some
very weird links: /index.html_files. I don't know how Pub can do this,
but that's what the site reports!

| Both actually. I originally assumed that she just needed to upload the
index_files folder, but then after reading your response I investigated the
links. I don't know how she created the folder...certainly not a default
setting that I know of. Even if you don't use the subfolder option, the
images are then called index_image323.jpg or similar.

| I have loaded that file up. I did the day I read Lisa's original post. Is
it in the wrong place? Do I have the wrong path name?

| Thank you for the reply. I don't have another question.
I followed the directions and loaded up the folder you mentioned. It is in
the directory with the images and the index page. Still the images don't
show up. My guess is that I have them in a different place than where they
are pointed to in the index page html.
Can you please tell me what path should be specified in the HTML? Is is
done in a different way in publisher than in HTML?
Is this even the right direction for me to be following?
Thank you.
