What are you trying to do?

FWIW you should stick with FP and not try to edit a FP web with Publisher,
if that's what your aim is...don't.

Dunno...ftp is mostly for file transfers not online editing like FP.

You may want to try MS Expression Web (there's a 60 day trial) - it's FP's
big daddy replacement. You can just open your FP created web with it and
edit as you normally would with FP.

Cindy,

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is a method of copying files
from one location to another. You don't use FTP to edit files. In fact,
unless Web Expressions will open FrontPage files, about the only way you
are going to edit the document is using NotePad, which is not going to
show you how it looks until you save it as an htm(l) file and open it in
a web browser.

Technically you can open an html file in Pub 2002 and 2003 though Publisher
is not an html editor, so in theory you might be able to open a FP site.
Reference the information at the end of this article:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/a...1/19/81461.aspx

However, as Rob and Mike have said, your realllllly shouldn't be trying to
go from FP to Publisher.

If you don't want to buy FP or Web Expression, you might try NVU which is
free:
