Microsoft Publisher - how to delete a page that always shut down my file?

how to delete a page that always shut down my file?

I found there is one page in my web publisher that whenever I click on it and
it close my whole document down. I don't know how to delete it since
whenever I click on it, it shut my file down. Could you please advise how I
can save my web publisher document? Can I delete that page without need to
click on it or open it?

Did running the design checker as suggested in one of your other posts help?

Did you try a Save As a new file name, and then try opening and editing the
new file?

I tried almost everything. Save to a new name but the problem remains. I
tried to post other document to the web and they works just fine. I also
know exactly which page cause me problem since every time I click on it and
it shut down my file. However, I just can't figure out how to delete it.
Since this is a big file I made which has over 50 pages. I hate to make a
new one completely. I hope I can just copy some pages to a new files without
changing the page details. I just can't delete that one page that always
cause me problem.

I assume that you did try the Design Checker tool, and that did not find any
problems on that page? If it finds issues on that problem page, see if it
can be corrected from there. If it does find issues that can't be fixed,
note them and post back after trying the next two steps.

The next thing I would try would be based on the assumption that you have a
corrupt image on that page. Back up your Pub file, and then go to tools >
graphic manager. Find the problem page, and replace all the pictures with a
small 100 pixel wide, or at least a very low resolution .jpg or .gif image.
In the graphics manager under Select a picture, click on a picture file on
the problem page, and click the downward chevron to see your options. Choose
replace this picture, and browse to your small low res picture. Replace all
the images on the that page, save and close your file. Open it again, and
see if you can click on your problem page without crashing Publisher. If so,
you know that the problem was with one of your pictures and you can rebuild
the page accordingly. Just add back pictures one at a time, saving, closing,
re-opening and testing after each image is added. When it crashes, you found
the guilty party.

If replacing the images doesn't work, you might have to just delete all the
pictures on the page. Just select the pictures, one at a time, on that
problem page under the graphic manager, and hit the delete key. This will
delete the images off the page, not just replace them. It will be harder to
rebuild your page as you will have to insert new images and graphics and
size the boxes, but it might be necessary to open that page in Publisher.

Try those three things, and if that doesn't work, report back as to what
happened, and we will try something else. It would be a pain to copy and
paste 49 pages of a 50 page file into another instance of Publisher.

Hi David

I have the same problem as the original poster. One page just crashes
Publisher.

I tried every suggestion you made for this post, any more ideas?

If you tried all the suggestions I made before, then I guess I would suggest
that you open a second/new instance of Publisher, and an new file, and start
copying and pasting the content from the pages that are OK, to the new file.
You use Ctrl + A to select all, the Arrange > group and copy the whole page
at one time. Then paste the page to a blank page in the new file, move
around as a group to line things up, and then ungroup.

A bit of a pain to rebuild the file, but obviously I ran out of ideas after
the first OP.
