Author hyperlink to pdf file in web page not working
Bandit

I have set up a hyperlink in my web page to a pdf file. In publisher edit
mode the link works. When I publish to the web the links do not work.
The link address is correct, the file name is all lower case with no gaps
and the files are in the index file for the web.

Bandit,

Any error messages? A link to your site?

Did you upload the pdf file to the server?

No Error message. The link is shown on the web page but nothing happens when
you click on it

Bandit,

That's why posting your site would help. Someone might spot what is
wrong. But if nothing at all happens, it sounds like you really don't
have a link, just underlined text or something.

Can you try reaching the pdf file directly, by typing something like
www.mywebsite.com/index_files/mypdf.pdf? (assuming your pdf is in the
index_files folder)

In addition, you might try right clicking the link, and Save Target As , and
see if the file starts to download. If you just click on the file, and have
the Adobe viewer plug in installed in IE, then the file load in IE
automatically. If it is a large file this may take a long time, and feel
like nothing is happening.

As Mike said, give us your URL.

The files paths are referencing the pdfs on your machine:

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Mark%20Piddington/My%20Documents/Web01/index_files/elvdirective.pdf

Try: http://www.imds.eu.com/index_files/elvdirective.pdf
for a hyperlink, and change the others accordingly.

Bandit,

The solutions are above. Now you can see the advantage of providing a
site so it can be checked!

Does Pub give you an option, when selecting "A file on my hard drive"
(if that is what it does) to upload the file to your site? The program I
use does but if I don't tick that box, I would probably get the same
results as you.

David

Thanks for the help. I have changed the addresses in my web page and they
all work fine now.

Thanks
