I inserted HTML code segments onto several pages in Publisher so that when
someone clicks an image on the website, a new window opens up. The new
window is in PDF format and if someone viewing the website doesn't have Adobe
Reader, they get an error in their browser. The HTML format is:

<a target="_blank" href="aaa"><img src="xxx" border="0"></a>

aaa = the location and filename of the file
xxx = the location and filename of the image

Any thoughts?

Put a note that the free Adobe Reader is needed to view the link, along
with a link to download the reader. However, It's hard to believe that
99.98 percent of web viewers do not already have it installed. Are you
sure you have the link "exactly" correct?

Well you brought up a good point about the 99.98 percent of web viewers
having Adobe. My area of help now changes to getting Adobe to work with
Mozilla FireFox

Chris,
What is your problem with Adobe and Firefox?
I have an open question in Netscape.Public.Mozzila.General about FF
sometimes opening PDF files and sometimes asking to Save or Cancel
whereas IExplorer asks to OPEN, Save, or Cancel.
I have just seen some variations on the problem but have not pinned it
down enough to argue about it.

John,

Some of this may be how the pdf is uploaded. I know I had a couple of
files that were huge (50+ megs) and I used code that gave the viewer the
option of downloading it so he/she could keep surfing while it was
downloading, or viewing it. I think cancel was part and parcel of the
the MS GUI.
