I am trying to get web cam to work live. I can get it to view using windows
media player but can't work out how to attach in publisher.

you wouldn't "attach it", you have to setup your webcam software to ftp the
info to the web - if you're using FP extended website you should do this to
a subweb (and your host must allow the creation of a subweb) - otherwise the
webcam software ftp'ing will break the extensions.
